The Green Girl's Marathon Splits

The Green Girl finally got around to analyzing her Athens Classic Marathon kilometer splits.

I have to admit that I made a mistake when an hour and a half into the race, I decided to switch Mr. Green Garmin to Interval mode. In this mode, I was not able to see my total distance or even my average time because it only showed the statistics for the current interval.

The thing that surprised me the most was the fact that my pace was much more consistent than I thought I was. Aside from the 19 minute kilometer when I sat and waited for my fellow Sole Runner, Miyuki, I ranged between an 8 to 15 minute kilometer. I also thought I got increasingly slower as the mileage increased but that doesn't necessarily appear to be the case.

  1. Sadly I don't even know (or care) how to mess with my Garmin. But yes, you look pretty darn consistent!

  2. I just push start, then stop on my Garmin. I have no idea what it's really capable of.

Your splits look pretty darn good, but I have to honest; I can't wait to see the pictures!

Oh, and I love the little icons you make of yourself. So cute and creative!

  3. That is a very consistent pace, very impressive! I use a normal watch with start/stop. Runners in my club have placed bets on when I get a Garmin.:)

I have no earthly idea how to do 99% of the stuff on my Garmin - what the hell is Interval Mode? Yikes, it looks intimidating!!

  9. I am a Garmin Geek and Slave. Let me know if you have any questions. Interesting to see how you came super close to running 26.2 miles when you don't have turns in the race. I'm assuming it was a straigh shot. You do know that Phillpides died when he got to Marathon, right?
