The Green Girl's New Year's Run

The Green Girl went for her first run of 2011 this evening.

I decided to start off the year with some hill work so I headed over to Signal Hill.

After an unusually intense day at work, it felt really good to get out and feel the crisp air fill my lungs as I hit the pavement.

From the top of Signal Hill, I paused to catch my breath and I took the opportunity to look out over the city.

It was one of those runs where I felt like I was flying but when I looked down at Mr. Green Garmin, he told me I was doing a 16 minute mile. Instead of pushing myself, I just disregarded the disconnect and enjoyed my run.

It was a beautiful night and the perfect way to start off the New Year.

  1. I just learned about Angelman's Syndrome through your blog. How meaningful that you could run in Athens and raise $$!!

  6. What a great way to kick off the New Year! I received my own Green Garmin for Christmas and I can't wait to take it out for a run! (I took it out for a 6.2 mi snowshoe expedition and it told me 10 degree is too cold.)

  7. You always have the most amazing runs. In Cape Town here in South Africa we have a Signal Hill as well. There are two canons at the top and every day at noon (12:00 exactly) they are fired to signal the time.

  11. Great run! Johann said it....Signal Hill overlooks the entire city, and is one of the best places to watch the sun set.
