The Green Girl Is Registered For Tour DaVita

The Running Cycling Green Girl just registered for the Tour DaVita.

The Tour DaVita is a 240-mile bicycle ride benefiting the The Kidney TRUST, a non-profit organization focused on the prevention and awareness of chronic kidney disease (CKD).

The route will take us through the rolling hills of Massachusetts and Connecticut along the Connecticut River.

This whole cycling thing is unchartered territory for me but I am looking forward to the challenge.

For starters, I am going to start looking at reasonably priced bike options for green girls who are under five feet.

  5. You will love riding! I am not the tallest eitehr (about five foot two) but have had decent luck in road bike sizing. Spring for the official fitting -- the extra cost will pay for itself when you aren't hurting on your rides because your bike will be dialed in just so.

  6. This sounds like total fun and through such beautiful area. I used to live in MA and sometimes miss it.
I am very curious about your bike shopping experience. I have a mountain bike - would love to have a road bike but often find myself overwhelmed with sizing, fitting, choices and... prices. Of course the ones I like are on the top of the price scale.

  8. Thats so awesome!! Cycling is supposed to really be good for runners. I heard it works the "other" muscles - whatever those are. :) I agree with rad runner about that tri!! :D

  9. Very cool new adventure. Under 5'? Maybe a high quality kid's bike would work? Trek and Specialized both have good women's lines as well.

  12. Way to go, Girl!!

Road (and Tri) bikes have come a long way in the past 5 years. Models are made specifically for women (shorter, the bars are closer together for our slighter bodies, etc.) - and more women are out there pedaling their hearts out!

Good luck on your quest - I know you'll do a LOT of research.... Do what is best for you - and agree, the bike "fitting" is a good splurge. It helps joints in the long run!

Enjoy the training and the actual event.

Next up: SWIMMING????? (You're that much closer to a triathlete!) :-)
