Flip flops are nearly impossible for me to find because they always run on the narrow side so there isn't enough sole for my outstretched feet.
I also need shoes with good arch support otherwise my flattened arches get extremely sore.
When I was at my local running store, Runner's High, looking at running shoes and apparel, my highly trained eyes spotted the wide-looking Spenco PolySorb Total Support Women's Sandals.
According to the manufacturer, Spenco:
Spenco PolySorb Total Support Sandals combine the support and stability of our best-selling insole with the comfort and simplicity of a slip-on sandal. Great for after sports or training or just kicking back indoors or out. Unlike some other slip-ons, Spenco Sandals are designed with orthotic-quality arch and heel support. Superior impact cushioning and motion control help reduce pronation and supination—common problems associated with flat, slab-style sandals.
The Total Support Cushioning System Absorbs shock and helps prevents over pronation while the EVA surface custom molds over time to conform to the unique shape of the wearer’s feet. The Stability Cradle provides advance arch support and deep heel cupping and the Metatarsal Arch Support offloads pressure from the ball of foot help relieve forefoot pain.
When I slipped my feet in and all of my toes were still on the sandal, I was elated. I didn't even bat an eye at the $39.99 price tag.
I am so impressed by how comfortable these sandals are. The soft strap doesn't rub or cut into my delicate feet.
I never thought I'd get enough arch support in a sandal that I could actually walk around for extended periods of time. These sandals are so comfortable that I can wear them on a trip to the store with no discomfort.
After wearing them out a few times, I immediately went and purchased a second backup pair.
I too have wide, flat feet. I have one pair of black sandals with arch support, but these look a little cuter. The price tag is not bad at all. Thanks for the tip, I think I'll have to check them out!
